For this application on Subaru STI cylinder heads, we utilized Cerakote V-Series, a high-temperature, thin-film ceramic coating engineered specifically for internal engine components. Unlike cosmetic coatings, V-Series is designed to enhance function at a mechanical level—making it ideal for parts exposed to continuous heat, combustion byproducts, and metal-on-metal contact.
Each component was meticulously prepped and media blasted to create the proper surface profile for maximum adhesion. We then applied Cerakote V-Series in a controlled, even layer to maintain tight tolerances across all mating surfaces. This is critical in valve train applications, where even minor inconsistencies can impact performance.
The benefits of this coating go beyond protection. V-Series helps reduce friction across moving components, improves heat resistance, and adds a layer of corrosion protection inside the engine. The result is smoother operation, increased longevity, and a more efficient system overall.
Customer Input to Achieve Scope:
This project focused on performance—not appearance. The customer brought us a cylinder head and full valve train assembly with the goal of improving durability, reducing friction, and protecting critical components under extreme operating conditions.
